The first strain of Cannabis I decided to grow, is this… “Moby Dick XXL”, a supposedly energising Sativa strain, which produces massive buds and supposedly offers high yields.
Gardening
Growing Moby Dick XXL seems to be a relatively easy affair, especially using feminised “Autoflower” seeds. I don’t use any pH Up/Down products, or any fancy equipment and soil, just like 3 or 4 Euro potting soil, eggshell powder and coffee grounds at times, water occasionally of course, and some liquid fertiliser and worm castings from Vermiculture of course too.
I did actually pH test the runoff lately, with the plant having a pH of 6.5 or 7 with the way I feed it and water it. I tend to water a little every day, or every other day and lately I started feeding the plant with some amendments. Sometimes I sprinkled the aforementioned eggshell powder around the plant, at other times I use a diluted fertiliser mixture that just happened to come about in my watering can, and for around a month the plant was exposed to 18 hours of light (an indoor 100W growlight). A normal run of the mill fan runs for multiple hours a day, the window is cracked a majority of the time and I sometimes trim a few leafs here or there to let light reach as many buds as possible.
One thing I started doing around a month into the grow, was cut up some bits of wire, and using them to bend the branches of the plant in order to make the light reach the lower growth too. A heavier procedure was the trimming of the very top portion of the plant near the relative beginning of the grow , when the plant was around 3 nodules tall so to speak? That is done so that the single main branch turns into two, basically.
